About Mallory
Before deciding to stay at home with my son full-time, I worked as a public high school science teacher for three years. I have experience working with online learners, as well as in-person. I am currently a certified Vermont State science teacher, grades 7-12.
I love being able to guide students as they make connections between the science content and their own lives. It has been amazing to watch those "a-ha!" moments as they happen.
I started working in education since I was in undergrad at SUNY Potsdam back in 2009. Throughout my time at Potsdam, I worked as a peer content tutor in the subjects of general biology, human biology, and environmental science. I earned a BA in Biology from Potsdam in 2011.
After a few years working in the medical industry as an ambulatory technician, and in the environmental field as a conservation steward in grassland restoration for NYS Parks, I decided to return to the classroom and earned my MS in Environmental Science and 7-12 Science Teacher Certification from Antioch University New England in Keene, NH. Throughout my time at Antioch, I worked as a substitute for the Fall Mountain Regional School District.
From 2018-2021, I taught high school science at Blue Mountain Union School. Science classes taught included college-level general biology and anatomy and physiology, honors biology, general biology, applied physics, general physics, and earth science.
Masters in Science, Environmental Studies and Science Teacher Certification, Antioch University New England, 2018
Bachelors in Biology, SUNY Potsdam, 2011
Current Licensure: Vermont 7-12 Science

When working with a new student, I like to get to know who they are as a person. I like to know how they best learn, what their goals are for tutoring, and what they are interested in outside of the content being tutored. I find that knowing what a student likes to do in their spare time can often be connected to the content being taught.
I also like to know if there are any big projects, tests or deadlines coming up in the student's academic life. This helps me to personalize our time together.
I have worked with many types of students, including students with various learning differences. I am familiar with following IEP and 504 plans.

Mallory is an amazing teacher. She has a love for science that shows in every lesson. She can help anyone understand concepts in a way that is accessible. Mallory makes science fun! Anyone that works with her will be ready to go on an awesome journey.
Mrs. Scahill was one of my favorite teachers of all time. She taught me Biology at the high school and college level and was always challenging and supporting me as a student. I would recommend her as a teacher/tutor to anyone!
Ms Scahill has an amazing understanding of science. She is patient, kind and has a great sense of humor. What I appreciate most is her ability to break down complex topics and explain them in a way that I can understand. I highly recommend Ms Scahill as a science tutor.
Mrs. Scahill's class was always refreshing and enjoyable! Intimidating topics were handled in a way that was easy to understand and relatable to the real world. Most topics clicked and whenever help was needed Mrs. Scahill was more than ready to point us in the right direction!
Mrs. Scahill has a way to keep long lectures engaging in the classroom setting, which helps with knowledge retention in the subject. She was able to keep a room of high school freshman engaged in biology discussions at 8am.
Scahill doesn’t only care about science which is her subject of passion but she also has an equal amount of care for the students she bestows her wisdom upon. If you want a tutor who is an expert in their field and knows how to tailor her lessons to your child’s personal learning strengths and actually garner interest in a subject they may struggle in she is definitely the right fit for you.
As a paraprofessional who had the pleasure of working with Mallory, I would highly recommend her. She has the ability to help ALL students. She meets students on thier level. You will not be disappointed!!
She is patient, kind and does a great job explaining very difficult topics in a way that others can easily understand them.
Mrs. Schahill has a natural talent for creating meaningful connections with her students, and has a great depth of knowledge to draw from when helping them learn.
When I had the pleasure of learning different levels of science with Scahill, I had gone into different in depth realms of learning and understanding that I didn’t know I could possibly get to!
