About Rod "HotRod"

I started working with the youth when I was in high school at a basketball camp. Though when I went to college back in 2008 I worked with the boys&girls club @ S.Atlanta high school and Eastlake for about 2years. While there I was considered a basketball and life coach dealing with a program called "Passport2Manhood". I taught the youth it's more to life than sports though sport gives discipline to score life goals.

I love to work with the youth and see there growth and development progress out of a struggle. It gives me chills and Iam thrilled to be part of the start of gr8ness...

I started teaching back in high school though was still learning myself and once I got to college I was even more confident about teaching or sharing lessons with the youth and my colleagues.

I grew up in a household of coaching tactics to keep GOD 1st in all you persue. My education in college was graphic design and Iam a artist also able to market my ideas aswell as peers or associates. I learned that one has to coach themselves to be the best they can be through out life journeys. The students I perfer to deal with is basketball because I have been schooled since a toddler how to hoop and plus I love the game.

I ask them what do they see themselves doing in the next 3-5 years and what do they like to do other than sports. Though before practice they have to stretch and eat some fruits like oranges, bananas etc. Then we run about 10 laps before getting into the drills.

I worked with kids or teens about 7 to 17 within the game of basketball.

I would let them know that they should have honor roll grades because playing a sport is a privilege though doing good in and out of school is a necessity.

I volunteered at the MLK aquatic center. I worked with a few youngsters at a time @ indoor and outdoor hooping. Some of them were considered troubled youth that needed encouragement to stay focused on what they love to do and to do what was needed to do what they love to do.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should ask themselves how much do they really care about going to the highest level in basketball. Also what is needed for them to reach the highest height in the game they love.
