About Melody

I am passionate about learning languages and helping others attain the language skills they want to have for school, work, or personal enrichment. With over 10 years of tutoring experience, I am very patient and understanding of individual students' learning patterns. As a skilled language learner myself (in addition to bilingual skills in English and Chinese, I have working conversational fluency in German, French, Italian, and Spanish), I am aware of the grammatical and syntactical differences between various languages, and am adept at explaining difficult concepts to students. I will work with you to develop a tailored study plan that will help you meet your language-learning goals. Whether it's improving your oral skills, perfecting your Chinese pronunciation, or enhancing your writing and reading abilities, I am here to help. Let's work together to take your Chinese to the next level!

I started tutoring Chinese as a Teaching Assistant in NJ's Huaxia Chinese School - Montgomery Branch in 2009, working with third grade students on weekends. I have really enjoyed sharing my knowledge with the kids and watching them gain appreciation and faculty of the language and culture.

I have a bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

About the lesson

I have tutored students of all ages, from 5 year-old to adult. I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds, as well as students of all levels.

Language learning is all about consistency and continuous effort. Putting in a little bit of time each day goes a long way!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I believe each student knows best their personal areas of strengths and weaknesses. Figuring out the fortes to capitalize upon and the weaker areas to target will make practice and studying more efficient and effective!
