About Mandy

Hi, there! My name is Mandy, and I look forward to working with you. During our lessons, you will receive classical guitar instruction and guidance passed down to me by guitar masters before me. By teaching proper technique and posture, repertoire, fretboard recognition, site reading and theory, I provide all of my students with the training necessary to become proficient guitar players and well rounded musicians. I personalize my lessons to each student’s needs and I patiently work with them at a pace that feels comfortable, while still motivating them to challenge themselves. With a little patience and hard work, you can expect to see real progress under my instruction. I am excited to guide you through your musical journey, and I really look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

I began teaching private lessons from my home about three years ago, and about a year later I began working as a guitar instructor for Guitar Center.

I have been studying classical guitar for a little over five years with maestro Jose Adan, former student of the world renound classical guitarist, Pepe Romero. I also have three years of experience in teaching private guitar lessons.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, the first thing I do is assess whether or not the student has any prior experience in guitar playing. If the student has not had any prior training, I start off with the very basics, such as instructing them on how to properly hold their instrument, helping them to achieve proper posture, and guiding them in developing proper right and left hand technique early on. If the student does not have any prior experience with reading music, I make sure to introduce music theory at a slow but steady pace, so that their site reading skills may grow over time.

I have worked with a wide variety of students, including children and adults, both with and without a musical background.

The best advice I can give a student looking to take classical guitar lessons is this: Start immersing yourself in the classical guitar world. Listen to other classical guitarists. Watch classical guitar videos on youtube. Research about your instrument. Start getting into the spirit of the craft and become inspired!
