About Jessi

I regularly respond to students questions that they ask me out of session, helping them cement their understanding and the work they've done without necessarily booking another session, as well as letting them know they have a CS/Math lifeline if they need one.

I love teaching students who are genuinely interested in learning, rather than just passing a class. It's a joy I'm able to share what I've picked up over the course of my CS career with developing programmers.

And, there's nothing more satisfying than helping someone realize just how much more capable they are than they thought they were, nudging open doors for them so they can see the possibilities of their own future and walk down any road they might choose.

I graduated at the top of WashU's McKelvey School of Engineering with a degree in Computer Science and Math. I have interned as a Software Engineer at Google Inc., Workday Inc., as well as have experience working as a Technical Consultant at Keystone Strategy doing large scale analysis for a leading tech company’s leading product’s codebase. But my real passion is teaching. I’ve been tutoring for over three years now and also have two years of experience as a Teaching Assistant in several different CS classes.

I love working with students of all experience levels and helping them cement their understanding of the material so far, learn new content, and work to apply concepts to problems and projects. Most importantly, I try to help students to build confidence in CS so they know that they can take command of their own learning and build off of our sessions in between and long after lessons.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is geared around understanding the concepts and material. I start by finding where my students are (which is usually further than they think!) and then building from there, either by giving personalized lectures or helping students work through their assignments/projects and practice applying the material.

I've worked with high schoolers, college students, grad students, and industry professionals looking to integrate CS into their repertoire, improve their coding ability, and build a solid foundation and confident understanding for all that they are learning.
