About Anthony

I am self employed, trying to get more experience teaching students through different mediums. I have taught dance classes, colour guard, and have given music lessons before. I have also left classes in a nursery for 7 years, and led a middle school small group.

I have written a poetry book that is in the process of being published, and I am working on several fantasy books.

My teaching style focuses on what the student wants to learn. I do my best to make my classes easy to understand, while fitting the student's learning style and interests in. My classes are fun and educational.

We will use Google classrooms for a majority of the classwork and communications.

I do not have any formal training for teaching. I simply have a love for it. I have taught many things over the years, though. I started my own winter guard, where I made weekly lessons, handled budget, and taught my class every week for three months. I have led a middle school small group for a year, also making lesson material and presenting it to the students. Additionally, I have taught a nursery class of 0-5 year olds for 7 years.

I have been writing since I was very young, and have a poetry book that is in the process of being published. My passion is for helping students find their own voice creatively and being able to put themselves into their work.

About the lesson

When working with a student I like to get to know them first. I have them fill out a questionnaire so that we focus on their interests and their knowledge of the class this far. I do not want to waste their time teaching them what they already know. I then want to get to know their writing style, and what they are passionate about with writing. From there we work on completing projects until they feel that they are very comfortable in this subject.

I have worked with all ages, genders, sexualities, as well as many people with special needs. I do not prefer one age group or gender over another, all students are extremely amazing and genuinely smart in my books.

Look for someone creative who will play to your strengths. If you want to write creatively in any way, you want someone who knows a lot of different creative authors across many genres and fields. You should also make sure that your learning style will be heard and that your tutor will build your lessons around your specific needs.

At the end of my teaching with the small group, my girls had written me a journal full of things they loved about me. Some had drawn pictures and some had just written some lovely words. It was very moving.
