About Laura

I love to bring together art, music, fashion, color, texture... a sense of freedom and playfulness, adventure, discovery, and diverse styles and points of view.

I go for hand made, crafted, raw, passionate, love- filled work and creativity without fear.

I love to bring out the truth in the student- what they really love most.

Whether teaching sewing, draping, patternmaking,

or figure drawing, drawing or fashion illustration and design

or Brazilian samba dance, or iPad Art, or gouache, ....

I love opening up the student where they felt they were closed- giving them the skills for confidence and an experience of great joy of discovery and permission that they learn to give themselves to really flourish and create

I graduated with a BfA from Parsons School of Deaign in NYC and Paris, and have been teaching fashion design there since 1997.

I also have a top blog for fashion illustration and have authored two books on fashion design.

ive freelanced I'm NYC industry for many years and also am a mom and singer, so I love bringing enthusiasm and joy into any learning process.

About the lesson

I like to have an initial session where I get a real sense for where they are starting from, what they want to learn and what they're nervous about.

this way I can put them at ease and deliver what they want to learn in the most encouraging and relaxed, approachable amd. Plaulyful manner.

Details

Usually it's 80 for young people, and payment is in packs of 4 paid first before the month of four sessions. This is for 75 minutes

This is not my usual rate for my business, but I like to have a few slots available here so that I can work with some students who I couldn't work with otherwise.

also, a single class is $100 if yoy don't want the four pack.
