About Amanda

I have over 20 years of dance experience, over 10 years of teaching experience, and I am certified by the USISTD.

About the lesson

I will find out what your dance goals are and work with you to develop a lesson plan that suits your goals and budget.

Students who want to learn social dancing, wedding couples, parents or bridal party wanting to learn for a wedding, cotillion preparation, student who want to compete in ballroom or country, blind students, deaf students, students with Autism, middle school and high school students.

In the Baltimore and DC area, you can expect to pay $80-120 per lesson for private dance lessons (45 mins to an hour each). Sometimes students who don't know this find this off-putting, but that's the norm for quality instruction. Many of us have overhead to pay out of what we receive. We pay floor fees for renting space at a studio or ballroom to teach our lessons.

You should find an instructor who teaches what you would like to learn. If you want to do a variety of dances, choose someone who has that breadth. If you want to narrow and do only one type of dancing, then find someone who specializes in that to maximize your time and money.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about your goals and budget. Just like any new hobby, dancing requires consistent practice to become good. It doesn't need to be every day, but there needs to be some consistency to lessons and practice sessions. I have students who do once a week, twice a month, once a month, or a couple times a year. Think about what you can do with your schedule and budget, then your instructor can help you come up with a plan.
