About Dan
I have been playing the djembe for 25 years and have been studying traditional west African rhythms for over 20 years. I currently teach co-ed classes on Sunday mornings at the Women's Drum Center in St. Paul, MN. Womensdrumcenter . org for info on all their classes.
I've taught hand drumming workshops at UW Stout, taught a two month program for 'at risk' youth at the Anoka County Juvenile Dentention Center, assisted other drum teachers at their workshops, have been in a few different west African style djembe groups and have performed at various gigs throughout the Twin Cities area.
I love sharing the knowledge of what I've learned and passing that on to others. To challenge students while still making it fun and to see their faces when they accomplish what they had previously thought was not possible. Plus, djembe drumming is something that I love, so whether I'm learning, teaching or just playing, that passion comes through!
