About Alexis

If you are looking for a tutor to elevate your child's innate artistic talent, look no further.

I have experience in a wide range of fine arts. Including painting, drawing, abstract design, cake decorating, scultping, wire art, pottery, and woodworking.

My full-time job is actually a cake designer. I have been featured on the Food Network multiple times and recieved multiple awards such as one of the top cake designers in the world from DWHA magazine. (concealed information)

However, I started as an artist. I just consider myself an artist that uses a unique medium.

I enjoy teaching because I think it is so important to inspire young people that you can be successful at anything, as long as you have the passion and drive for what you do.

A lot of kids with innate artistic talent, give up on creative careers because they are afraid of the term "starving artist". So I want to change that. Not only will I be there to teach a different technique and skill each week based on your child's interest, but I will get them thinking about how they can apply these skills in their lives.

About the lesson

Each class will be dedicated to a different skill or theme. For example, if your child is interested in drawing, one week could be dedicated to lights/shadows while another week could be dedicated to charcoal. Each topic will be associated with a project. I will teach the techniques and skills associated with the topic, then we will begin a project to engrave those skills.

Since it is one-on-one, everything will be adjusted and personalized to your child and their specific needs.

My goals are to improve their skills and get them thinking creatively

My father always taught me that skills and talent are only half of it. You could be the greatest artist in the world, but if you don't know how to apply those skills, they wont serve you any good.

I want to help you find a way to apply your skills. Like I said, I am an artist who started out as a painter/drawer. I went into cake decorating because that was my way of applying my skills to something that I could build off of. It is an atypical career, but it works for me.

Art isn't black and white. There are a million different options and avenues. So I want to help you explore those.
