About Stacey

When I became a mom. I realized the need for positive and patient educators. I see it more and more in different capacities that children need assistance that is coming from outside the classroom in different environments. Children all learn in different ways and unfortunately not all schools can accomodate or fill in these gaps and some students are ending up succeeded less and less. (not to mention the last two years specifically have created multiple environment changes for most kids and students need some normalcy and consistency)

I have taught private art classes and have an associates degree in art/design and my bachelors is in Communications/TV & Film. I have been tutoring TEFL with kids in foreign countries through a platform called VIPKid for over a year as well as substitute teaching within my county while obtaining a Masters in Education.

About the lesson

Come in with patience, positive attitude and encouragement. Build rapport/get to know the student from the start. Casual yet professional appearance to assist in building trust and respect for the role as a teacher/tutor. After informal assessment or review to gauge level of assistance needed utilize lesson plan or create one to reach educational goals. To come with guidance, positive reinforcement and preparation for the lessons. This includes simplification and scaffolding on prior knowledge or strengths.

Mainly Pre-K through middle grade level through 8th grade. This is generally a sharing of knowledge/informal sessions. I have worked as special needs assistance, RTI yet mainly in English/art or elementary education. I have some experience with high school ages especially with advanced classes such as finance (I was a financial trader at one point) and English/Art. I have less opportunities with that in my current community as it is a small public high school without much need on a day to day basis.

Find someone with spirit that is open to learning themselves. Find someone that you can trust to guide you and teach you. Honestly to beware/cautious of people that CAN teach yet are a bit burnt out from it or not versed in new technologies/curriculums that may not be able to teach in a way that works for you.

Details

Based on grade level and length of the session. General ranges from $12 - $15 an hour. I don't charge hourly if longer sessions/multiple days etc... Really it varies and I work with the parents based on other factors.
