About Ann
I am offering art lessons to children, teenagers and adults. I have a bachelor's degree in fine arts. I also minored in Art History. I have given informal art lessons in the past and would like to continue on this path.
I offer instruction that focuses on drawing fundamentals.
Artists, no matter what their style or medium, seem only to benefit from laying a solid foundation in their understanding of, and the ability to represent accurately, line, shape, form, perspective, light, color, etc...
As I teach, I interweave, as appropriate, the students interests into the instruction. As students develop their drawing skills, they can be more engaged when encouraged to draw subjects they find interesting and/or fun.
I also introduce the work of famous artists, old and new. Studying notable artists, their styles, techniques, life stories, etc..., can contribute richly to a students instruction.
With regard to mediums, I keep instruction fairly simple. I start the student out with graphite(pencil) on paper. Further along the way, ink pen and/or colored pencil can be introduced.
Finally, I am a mom of four, all college age and above. I have been both a short and long term substitute teacher for all subjects, grades Pre-K through 8th grade. I found my time teaching, guiding and supporting young people to be fulfilling and fun.
I have truly enjoyed teaching in the past, I am hoping to continue on, while teaching the subject I know best.
From a young age, I loved to draw. This intersest has not diminished through the years. With my children growing up and out, and with less focus on parenting, I have been able to pour more time and energy into this long-time interest. I'm creating my own art work, taking art classes and gettting great satisfaction from it.
I so enjoyed my years teaching as a substitute teacher. But, the opportunities I've had to teach art have proven to be even more rewarding. Teaching art is a way to support and ecourage a shared interest.
