About Vicki

I love ART! I have been teaching art for 30 years. The courses I have taught include Art I to AP Art History and AP Studio courses. I can help you be successful on your AP portfolios and exam.

Art is just a part of me. I love seeing students discover abilities they didn't realize they had, whether they are a beginner or have some experience. There is ALWAYS something new to discover.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education. I have taught a variety of art classes for 31 years, mainly at the high school level.

About the lesson

Art is very individualized. Does the student want me to evaluate and give tips for improvement or do they want actual projects/lessons? Depending on the needs and wants of the students, together we can set a plan for the type of sessions needed.
Art History and Art Appreciation students are tutored on the content area needed. I focus on teaching/reinforcing not just the material but also the culture and background that goes with it. This gives a lasting understanding that is much easier to recall than just memorizing names, dates, places and materials. My goal for AP Art History students is for them to make no less than a 3 in the exam but preferably a 4-5.

I have worked with students who took art just for the credit to students who had desires to become professionals in the field.

Make sure they are compatible to your style but open to other styles as well. A student's style will evolve and change as they grow. You want to find someone who can nurture that growth.
