About Troy

I have been teaching for 22 years. I teach many different styles(blues, rock, country, finger style, classical etc.). My method is very intuitive and has created many great musicians. I am great with kids, as well as adults. I have a precise curriculum that is very neat and organized and easy to follow.

Music has been a passion of mine since I was young. I get a proud feeling of accomplishment when I get the opportunity to work with a student that knows nothing and within a few months are playing full length songs, and have turned my passion of music into theirs.

I started working at a music store in my hometown of Utah. I offered a skill set on guitar that the other instructors did not possess. I was very good at 80’s rock music. My schedule filled from 5 students to over 50 within two months. I was young, but was a pro at 80’s rock. When I was 22 I started venturing in to classical, fingerstyle guitar. I really love that style and it’s some of my favorite today.

I have played guitar for 30 years and taught for 22 years. I have played in several bands ranging from rock-country. I have a very low turn over ratio. Students don’t quit very often, due to my experience and method of teaching. Im also very reliable.

About the lesson

The first thing I’ll work on a new student is coordination/dexterity exercises. Those exercises include both right and left hand exercises. I teach from a workbook that I’ve put together over the last 22 years of teaching that helps build fundamental skills.

All types young, old, all styles.

I have a custom regimen that has created thousands of successful musicians over the last 20 years.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Method of Learning, does the teachers teaching method match the students needs. Example: If the student wants to learn Ed Sheeran songs learning to read standard notation would be a waste of time. Teachers method should be coordination exercises mixed with chording and rhythm counting for this student. If the student wants to learn classical than standard notation and finger dexterity exercises should come first.

Perfect! Troy is awesome. He is very patient with a clumsy old guy like me. He can flat play and is very knowledgeable. He has a lesson plan in place and sends you home with Tablature to practice with.

Troy is a GREAT teacher. He is very patient with his students and can teach anyone, from beginners to very experienced players... All of his lessons have a purpose and help you become a better player. Also, at the end of each lesson, he includes a few popular songs that you can now play.. Troy is a great guitar player himself, and I know that he can help just about anyone improve their guitar skills. I would highly recommend him to anyone. My only regret, is that I didn’t find him sooner.. Thanks Troy.
