About Griffin

I am currently in the field, busy as a professional drummer that has major lable touring experience. I am college educated and have experience teaching a wide variety of styles, methods and students' abilities.

I began helping my fellow high school peers prepare for auditions and proceeded to continue teaching as I progressed throughout my education and career.

I was a jazz studies major at Cal State Northridge and have studied privately for the better part of 20 years. I have had some excellent mentors, all of whom have been highly successful in the field.

About the lesson

I first find out what he or she is looking to learn/improve on. I then begin sampling different material with the new student to determine their current level and we go from there! Some students want/need to brush up on fundamentals, others simply prefer to learn how to play their favorite song.

I have worked with all ages ranging from 3 years - 40+ yr. old adults.

Be sure to find an instructor that is able to properly build a foundation for later success on the drums. One method is typically not enough.

You must learn to play your favorite songs, play with proper technique, get a taste for reading rhythm and learn, most importantly, how to function professionally and maturely in the world of music!

Most recently, I had the opportunity to work with my old high school jazz band rhythm section to prepare for their competitive jazz festival season. During the competition, the drummers I had been working with won Outstanding Soloist awards and the rhythm section as a whole was able to win and award for Most Outstanding Rhythm Section. It was a very proud moment!
