About Gary

I love connecting with students and helping them achieve their goals. I have a wide range of professional experience in which to draw from. I'm a conservatory trained percussionist and have toured extensively for many years. For the last 20 years I have been playing drums and or percussion for Broadway shows. I am the original drummer for AIDA,WICKED,TARZAN,BIILY ELLIOT, and SCHOOL OF ROCK. I was the percussionist for MOTOWN THE MUSICAL and my current gig MRS. DOUBTFIRE the Musical. I have done a lot of recording in many different scenarios as well. I freelance in many styles and record a lot from my studio at home as well.

I have had great experiences with so many of my students. I have taught kids from age 7 to working pros. I love the variety of music that my students are interested in! The world of music is vast and its inspiring to me to watch the development happen and be a part of it.

I started teaching shortly after graduating college.
And then I toured for many years and around 1997 when I came back to NYC I began teaching again.

I'm a conservatory trained percussionist. I play classical percussion as well as a whole lot of drumset. I play hand drums as well. I also was a student of Gary Chester and teach his New Breed system as well.

About the lesson

I like to assess their current skills by hearing them play a little. We talk about their musical interests and goals.
