About Cyrus

At the age of 8 (2004) I would wallpaper my room with world maps from different eras and memorize changes in political boarders, regimes, transfusion of culture through migration, evolution of industries and their impact on modern society, linguistic demographics and so much more. Documentaries, books, travel and other’s experiences are ways I prefer to learn.

My memory and bordering obsession on a myriad of topics is an asset to me and would definitely benefit others. Tutoring is my preferred way to teach as we can move from subject to subject as the student needs to without belaboring points they may already know.

Thus far I’ve traveled to Germany, Spain and Mexico. Those experiences brought home the things I learned in my Advance Placement and 2 years studying Geography in college.

My start in teaching was by desperation and wanting to share everything I learned with as many people as would listen. So my first students were my parents, brothers, sister and teachers. From there I helped friends and fellow students in need and was a volunteer aid in US History.

I attended college majoring geography and history. I've traveled, studied independently since the age of 8 and tutored friends and family.

About the lesson

We would initially find out where the student is in their understanding of the topic and how they best learn, then we would go from there. I like to find out what each person is interested in and incooporate that into lessons making it relateable.

I love to work with people from all different backgrounds, understandings and have been fortunate enough to do so. Including being a LINK (Mason High School) student companion and tutor for a classmate with ADHD and autism. I definately prefer spending time with people that are enthusiastic and want to learn but have also had experiences with those that are seeking help under pressure. I would consider working with any age but 10 + would be my preferance.

Make sure the tutor you are hiring has more than one style of teaching so that they are able to fit your needs.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should have an idea as to what their end result needs to be. What are you trying to accomplish accedemicaly? Do you want to pass a test or really dig into a moment in history for your own knowlege?
