About Ashley
Hello, my name is Ashley Giaquinto. I currently teach 3rd grade reading and writing in the Lansingburgh School District. I am NYS certified in general education grades 1-6.
My focus is around teaching students how to understand what they are reading along with making connections to their characters, making predictions and tracking their characters, setting and feelings throughout the reading process.
Based on where the student is instructionally for reading, I set goals based on print work, decoding, comprehension and writing about reading.
What I enjoy most is being able to watch students connect with their characters and understand what they are reading and make infrences along with answering questions about the reading.
I attended The College of Saint Rose for my undergrad where I earned a Bachlors of Science in Education. I am certified to teach general education grades 1-6. I will be returning to Saint Rose in the fall of 2019 for Curriculum and Instruction.

I begin by learning who the student is as a reader. What their strengths and weakness are. From there, I go into goal setting with the student. The focus can be around word work, decoding, print work, comprehension, character work etc. That is then our focus for two weeks. We work on that specific goal until it is mastered before moving onto a new goal.
