About Elena

Hi, I'm Elena! I'm a certified English teacher from Boston, Massachusetts with over eight years of experience tutoring K-12 English, college application essays, academic writing, American English pronunciation, and English as a Second Language. I'm also the founder of One English Tutoring.

My tutoring career began early in college when I worked with incoming freshmen and international students on academic writing. I loved the connections I made with my students and was enthralled by the changes I saw in their essays. Soon I started tutoring other subjects too—grammar, pronunciation, communication skills—and I enrolled in pedagogy courses to complement my linguistics degree. After college I won a Fulbright grant, taught at a national university then at a private school, and became a certified English teacher—all while tutoring on the side. But it was during the pandemic that the need for online tutors exploded and I began taking on more clients than ever. This business grew into One English Tutoring.

While working as a tutor, I noticed that there was a lack of full-time professional tutors who were experts in the subject they taught. The intention of One English Tutoring was to change this. I am a dedicated, full-time tutor, so my attention is completely focused on meeting the needs of my clients. My degree in linguistics and teacher certification give me the knowledge and expertise to help my students reach their language goals. Most importantly, my lessons are personalized. I take on a limited number of clients to ensure that they receive the attention they deserve and develop custom tutoring plans to help them perfect their language skills. With a patient, compassionate, and individualized approach to teaching, I guarantee the best learning experience possible for my students.
