About
Crystal Flutes Studio is a private lesson studio with instruction for Flute and piccolo. We combine Western technique with the Suzuki method to get the best of both worlds. We focus heavily on tone, expression, rhythm, major and minor scales, how to play stylistically correct, breath support, and technical mastery through etudes and repertoire. Public recitals are held every six months. We hold a masterclass once a year, taught by a guest artist. Crystal Van Duren has been teaching since 2015. She graduated with a BM in Flute Performance from BYU-Idaho in 2018. Between Semesters she studied with Mercedes Smith of the Utah Symphony. Currently she plays for Orchestra of Southern Utah.
