About Darina

I am very patient, understanding, flexible, and encouraging when it comes to my lessons

I love helping students achieve their individual goals, and discover their passion.

I first started giving lessons for service hours two years ago and I fell in love with it. It is because of lessons that I chose music education over performance.

I've been playing flute for almost seven years. Throughout High School I participated in honor bands such as county, district, state, college, and FSU Honors Chamber Winds. I was also a member of the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra for three years. I've been accepted for music education at McGill University in Montreal Canada, Jacob's School of Music in Bloomington Indiana, Florida State University, Colorado University at Boulder, University of North Texas, and Shenandoah Conservatory.

About the lesson

The first lessons is more of an evaluation to see where the student is, what their goals are, and how they prefer to be instructed.

I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students. Not just regulary, but some also came to me for individual sessions as well.

I would say to find someone who is flexible, patient, and who will work with you to achieve YOUR goals. Having a good, comfortable relationship with your teacher is also very important.

Anytime I help a student achieve something, no matter how big or small, it always brings a smile to my face.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would make a list. Think about your strengths, weaknesses, what you would like to achieve, how serious are you about music, are there any auditions you would like to participate in, what are some qualities you are looking for in a teacher, how do you like to be instructed, etc.
