About Javier
Hi everyone! My name is Javier and I am a professional flute freelancer and teacher in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I received my Bachelor's of Music in Flute Performance at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I then went on to receive my Master's in Music as well as a Graduate Diploma from The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where I studied with world-renowned soloists and professional symphony orchestra musicians.
I am a driven musician and educator and have a passion for sharing my knowledge of music and flute with others. Whether you want to learn flute to play your favorite Beatles song, or strive for a music degree yourself, I am more than happy to work with you!

I began my senior year of high school with 6th graders in my school district, and have continued through college working in multiple school districts at a time.
I received my bachelor's in flute performance at Baylor University as well as two graduate degrees from The New England Conservatory of Music, one of the world's leading music schools. I have taught private lessons throughout different school districts, and have worked closely with different music schools and organizations in educational and administrative settings.

Our first lesson is used to discuss prior experience and to set up goals and expectations moving forward. If the student has something ready to play, we can work on that on the first lesson and use it as a guide to approach a tailored roadmap to practicing and determine exercises, etudes, pieces, and other materials.
My students have all ranged from grades 6th-12th and they have all been involved in their own school's music programs. I am open to students of all ages regardless of experience!
Look for someone who makes you feel comfortable and inspires you to learn and become a better version of yourself! You want to learn from someone who you can confidently trust and communicate with. They should respect you, your time, and be able to motivate you to practice and improve your skills.
I recently judged a middle school solo contest, and when one of the students was having problems with her piece, I helped her out by treating the event as more of a coaching session. She was very open to follow my instructions and even improve in the process, and it took away the stress of the performance for her. She seemed much more relaxed with the experience, and was even having fun learning in the process. Providing the student with a positive association with music and learning is always my top priority.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should always ask themselves if their needs are relevant to the goals of the lesson, or if their teacher can help them out with their needs. If their question involves music or advice related to music, or maybe even something different like time management or advice about school, they can trust that their teacher should be able to provide them with guidance.

My pricing is set at $120 for four half-hour lessons a month ($30 per lesson, or $200 for four one-hour lessons ($50 per lesson). I recommend one-hour lessons to more experienced students who have more material to work through in lessons..
