About Sarah

Welcome to Sarah's Studio! My name is Sarah Richards (a.k.a. "Ms. Sarah" to my students!). I offer flute and piano lessons to all ages Pre-K through adult. Music is my life-long passion, and I can't wait to share the journey with you!

What's different about Sarah's Studio?

* We have FUN in lessons! We learn through games, activities, AND time playing our instruments.

* Studio-wide challenges and incentive programs, such as the "Polished Piece Chart" & Music Bucks and Store

* Music Lab - a bonus enrichment time for students to independently explore a wide variety of music topics (music theory, ear training, listening, history, sightreading, note reading, composing, and more!), using an iPad and digital keyboard/headphones.

* Piano Students of all ages welcome - my specialty is working with early learners, ages 4-7, as well as beginner/intermediate students of all ages

* KinderFlute program for Pre-K-4th grade flute students (I am currently the only Certified KinderFlute Teacher in Iowa)

* Flute lessons for the advancing flutist (honor band and audition prep, ensemble playing, college prep)

* Private lessons taught in my comfortable home studio in Urbandale

* Two recitals each year

I have has been teaching and performing in the Des Moines area for over 20 years and hold a B.A. in Flute Performance. The thing I love MOST about teaching is getting to know each student and watching them grow into confident musicians. It is my pleasure to share my passion for musical arts with the next generation of music makers!

About the lesson

Flute lessons offered by Sarah are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Urbandale. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
