About Cynthia

New to this website but not to teaching! I am Cynthia Robinshaw, MM, MS, foremost authority in voice and professional speech training. I am passionate about helping students learn. Let me help you find your voice and your confidence using 21st Century technology so you can literally "see" your singing and speaking voice.

As a member of VASTA (Voice And Speech Trainers Association) I have spent the better part of 40 years perfecting both the singing and speaking voice of thousands of children, teens, and adults.

As a specialist I teach singing lessons (classical, broadway, jazz and pop), dialect coaching, accent modification/reduct ion, public speaking, interpersonal communications both one-on-one, in the classroom setting and online.

I am a retired, certified teacher with an active AZ Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card so I do not need a new background check.

I enjoy watching my students grow as singers and speakers, exhuding confidence as their skills develop. I am proud of the hundreds of success stories my students can tell and I would be humbled if you would join them.

As a senior in college my voice instructor saw that I had an inate ability to connect with singers and instinctively knew how I could help them. I then became a student voice teacher for freshman and sophomore theater majors. I found my niche and fell in love with teaching. Then I progressed to teaching speech and classroom teaching.

I offer a diverse background of life-long education offering students a unique combination of skills and experience. I hold a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, a Master of Music in applied voice, and a Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology. I also have accumulated over 90 credit hours and continuing education credits.

Throughout my career, spanning 40 years, I have taught thousands of students as a music teacher, choral director, voice teacher, dialect coach, public speaker, actor and performer. I trained in singing, education and speech-language pathology and am referred by local ENTs (Ear, Nose and Throat Physicians) to assist their patients with vocal issues such as nodules and vocal abuse.

About the lesson

Getting to know the student helps build rapport and a working relationship. Every student- whether a singer or a speaker- is a unique individual with different goals. I have to adjust my teaching style for each student. My studio is a judgement-free zone and I try to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed.

My students range from young singers to business and medical professionals who want to reduce or modify their accents. I have worked with teens and adults on the Autism Spectrum, older adults with Parkinsons's Disease and clients with vocal abuse issues such as nodules, polyps etc.

Details

Our first meeting is always a free evaluation and mini-lesson where we find if we are a good match as a teacher/student. Fees are $30 to $70 per lesson depending on your level and needs.
