About Ian
I began teaching as a Guitar Instructor with the Educare Foundation, an after-school program working with underfunded schools throughout Los Angeles, CA.
I now teach privately out of my Studio the in Hyde Park are of Austin, TX.
I began playing music at 11, and formally studying guitar at 15. I began my studies at the Mike Curb College of Arts at California State University, Northridge, studying under John Dearman of the Los Angeles Guitar Quintet before transferring to the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, where I am currently completing my BM under the instruction of the renowned Adam Holzman.
In addition to my studies, I have extensive experience performing at weddings and private events in Los Angeles and Austin, TX.

I like to establish each student's familiarity with the intrument as well as their goals. I'm eqully as comfortable starting from scratch and teaching about the basics of music theory and guitar technique as I am helping more established players tackle any pieces that are giving them trouble. Once we are on the same page, we get to make music!
