About Valentin

When I was 6 years old my dad brought home a piano. I have never been the same since. Regardless of the ever changing nature of life, music has been a constant throughout. After seeing how much joy playing music for my family and friends gave me, I sought to pick up anything and everything that could make a sound. I continued studying music theory and composition on piano all throughout high school; by the time I was an undergrad at University of Virginia I was playing 3 or 4 nights a week as a jazz guitarist and drummer. Graduating with a concentration in jazz and bluegrass, I'm now pursuing a career in music education. I have gotten so much joy out of exploring and practicing music , I hope I can show you how to do the same.

I was born in Uruguay and grew up in a Spanish speaking family. Having english as a second language has widened my perspective.

I originally started teaching when my music professors needed help in class. I was designated as a teaching assistant and took on students of my own. I am now a full time teacher with several students from across all ages.

I studied music performance and composition at the University of Virginia.

About the lesson

I want to work towards something that is both worthwhile and meaningful to you. This usually means having a discussion about strengths and goals for the future. Once objectives are establsihed, I utilize a wide variety of methods to gear the learning in that direction.

My youngest student has been 5 years old and my oldest has been 60. I work with students of all backgrounds, in english o en español!
