About Matthew A
Matt Michalski has 23 years of teaching experience, and 36 years as a performing musician. He is a guitar instructor who understands the needs of the beginning student as well as guitarist further along on their musical journey. He is committed to providing a strong foundation for future growth and understanding and truly gets that no 2 students are alike. Matt looks forward to serving those on their musical journey.

I started teaching as a means to make some extra money and quickly realized I was having a great time helping students on their musical journey.
I've been teaching for 23 years, and a gigging professional musician for 35 years. I play Guitar, Bass, and sing. I'm also an audio tech/engineer with almost 2 decades of experience recording and doing Live sound.

First, I assess the technique and experience of the student.
Second, I provide a basic understand of the actual instrument such as the parts of the instrument, the differences in instruments.
Third, we play the instrument in a very basic way, such as a simple 3 note chord or simple exercise to ease the student into playing. We then talk about the experience, and I usually give the students two basic technique exercises to do as homework, which becomes part of an ongoing system of practice.
Mostly beginners, but I've had three students go on to study music formally at the college level, and have had many intermediate and advanced students as well.
