About Rick
I teach music theory and guitar playing fundaments that helps the motivated student learn the language of music and be able to play well quickly.
Early on we begin song studies of the student's favorite songs so they can enjoy practicing and be able to play for their family or friends.
I have been a musician for 30 plus years and have worked in bands playing popular radio music and some originals.
Currently I'm run the music program for my church and have been teaching students for the last 10 years.
I also play live music often for my church and from time to time play live music in a public setting.
I love to teach and see my students make progress and go from not knowing how to play to playing well.
I studied guitar with a teacher for about 5 years.
I have increased my skill by practicing and playing professional over the years.
Now I teach and run my churches music program and perform regulary.
I love the process of teaching and I am looking for serious students that are motivated to learn and to play.

I review the parts of the guitar and the proper way to hold the instrument.
I describe and draw out the circle of fifths and begin to help the student understand and learn the first of the 12 Major Keys, which is the natural key of the key of C.
I teach the C and G chord
I help the student identify a song we can begin to study and learn so the process is more enjoyable right away.
I give assignment to learn and try to master the material covered thus far.
