About Bryan
Bryan Vickers attained a Bachelor's Degree in Music from West Liberty University. He has been studying, performing, and teaching for over 25 years in the Upper Ohio Valley and the Greater Pittsburgh Area. He has always had broad and eclectic tastes that have followed him throughout his music journey. He's performed in a wide range of ensembles and groups, including but not limited to Rock, Punk, Reggae, Jazz, Country, and Hip-Hop. He has also led many Christian traditional and contemporary worship and praise groups.
Bryan studied Classical Guitar under Dr. Nels Leonard as well as Music Theory and Composition with Dr. Harold Weisner. His studies instilled in him the principles of guitar technique, music theory, and musicianship. Bryan performs as a soloist at formal functions and Church services throughout the region. He uses this training to build strong fundamentals and discipline in each of his students.
Inspiration
This diversity of styles and interests has helped Bryan to hone a unique approach to teaching.
"Every individual has their own ideas of what they would like to accomplish with their instrument. Regardless of whether a student wishes to play Johnny Cash, Segovia, or the Ramones, if their hands/fingers will not do what the brain intends them to do, frustration will take root. Likewise, if a player doesn't receive the basic music theory knowledge, they won't know where to go or what to do as their hands develop, which will also lead to frustration."
