About Jenna
I work as a Supplemental Instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin for American History spanning from the American Revolution all the way to the Obama Administration. As a history major at my university, I am well versed in various aspects of history including Ameerican, Asian, European, and World History. I use creative techniques to help my students absorb difficult topics in history such as relating events in the past to modern events and helping students with difficult vocabulary through games and flashcards. At my university, students who attend Supplemental Instruction lessons improved their GPA by half or a whole letter grade higher.
I am currently a Supplemental Instructor at my university and am a senior history major. Supplemental Instruction is a credible program that has shown results with students. I will apply what I learned in my 3 years as a Supplemental Instructor to my tutoring lessons.

The typical route I take with new students is figuring out what kind of learner they are: kinaesthetic, visual, or audio. Once I find their preference, I cater a plan towards their specific needs by creating lesson plans involving techniques using the skills they already possess.
I usually work with university-level students, and also worked on occasion with high school students.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think: What are my weaknesses in this class? Is it taking notes, listening to lecture, or the projects that need to be done in this class? What is my strong suit in this class? What do I excel in? Is it asking questions, taking tests, or writing essays? Once you ask yourselves these questions, you will be able to get a plan started with your professor/teacher that will suit your needs. Also, one last tip, do not wait until the last moment to talk to your teacher, they love it when students ask questions!
