About Clara

Horses are my passion and my goal is to inspire the same passion in others. I have been riding and showing in hunter divisions since age 5 and aspire to have my own farm and group of competing hunter/jumper students.

Although I have only been teaching for a year, I make up for it with hard work and and individual attention.

For now, students must have their own horse and safe place to ride and I will travel to you for lessons.

Contact me if you want to improve or learn basic riding skills or prepare for hunter/jumper competitions. Lessons can also be personalized to include grooming, horse and tack care.

I have been riding and showing in hunter divisions under several wonderful trainers with years of experience since age 5. I read, watch and speak with knowledgeable horse people on a daily basis. I have helped train horses for hunter shows at two different farms and aspire to have my own.

About the lesson

I ask the student and guardian questions to determine his/her experience level and goals. For the first lesson with young students or beginners I like to observe their entire process - from catching the horse to getting them groomed and tacked up to ride. I start the lesson more informally by asking them to do what they are used to so I can see what needs working on and then start to work in techniques and routines I believe would benefit the individual student and horse pair.

So far I have worked with a teenage girl who rode western since she could walk but wanted to learn to jump and begin hunter shows. I am also working with a very young girl who recently started riding and wants to graduate from poles on the ground.

Details

$45 for 1 hour lesson. Will give longer lessons with adjusted fee. Lessons include the full hour (or time discussed) of teaching plus time after the ride for questions. Grooming, tacking up, tack cleaning, lunging or warm up will count as part of the lesson until help is no longer needed.
