About Liza

Hi!

I am a reading tutor, for Kindergarten - Fourth Grade, who will customize to each student's unique needs. I focus on phonetic awareness and knowledge, letter sounds, decoding, coding, figurative language (ex. simile, metaphors, personification, etc.), and context clues.

I taught first grade at a private school for two years and was a substitute teacher for elementary—high school for three years. I was also a long-term substitute for fifth-grade ELA and an aide for an elementary behavioral unit. I have taught and tutored many students with ADHD, behavioral issues, and learning disabilities.

I am certified trauma-informed through Handle With Care and TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), which has helped tremendously in connecting with students and building trust. I am patient, calm, bubbly, and quick to problem-solve. I welcome parental feedback and value communication. My goal is not only to improve skills and grades but also to build confidence!

Start by learning about your child’s strengths and challenges through a simple Google Form and an introductory assessment, allowing me to tailor sessions to their unique needs.

I use a blend of research-based reading programs and creative, engaging materials to suit each child’s learning style. If there are any worksheets used, I will upload it on my computer and share screen with the student so we can work on it together. Students must have access to wifi and Zoom for sessions. Students will not have homework.

I give assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of each student's customized tutoring package. These three assessments help track and record progress. I also connect with parents via their preferred form of communication after each evaluation. Parents are welcome to schedule a conference call with me via zoom at any point. I will share my scheduler link with parents so I am easily accessible.

Each session is 30 minutes. After the session ends, I will fill out notes from that session and send them to parents.

Parents are welcome to book as many, or as little, individual sessions as needed. Parents can book and pay as we go. Or, we can create a customized package plan. For example, I offer 12 sessions for $199—or 24 sessions for $400. I will work with parents to create a more customized package if more sessions are needed.

If your student is more than 10 minutes late, I will log off to honor my schedule, but I will do my best to reschedule if notified ahead of time. Parents are still charged for a no-show session. If a student needs to cancel or reschedule a session, please do so 24 hours before. However, I understand that life happens, and I will do my best to be flexible for you.

Ready to help your child thrive in reading? Contact me today to book your first session or ask any questions!
