About Michan

I received a 176 on my only taking of the LSAT, achieved through self study. In 2015 I had the highest national score on the AICE/Cambridge critical thinking exam. I attribute these and other successes in part to my excellent education, particularly in the art and science of critical thinking. My Cambridge Academy education also included majors in engineering and journalism; I led debate, math and chess clubs, was school newspaper editor and treasurer of JSA, junior scholars of America. Although I majored in classical guitar and conducting at UNLV from where I graduated, (I am featured on youtube in a concerto solo,) I received exceptional feedback on work in political science and literature projects which required high level thinking skills.

As a tutor I start by having the student take a practice test so we can see where their strengths and weaknesses are. I then provide as much direction as necessary for the individual tailored practice that should be done between sessions. I help students to challenge assumptions, make inferences, ask questions, weigh evidence, question her own biases, and to observe and puzzle over things. I help them build the content knowledge necessary for the tests, and also work with students to develop reasoning, strategies, and time management skills.

I am an expert in helping students improve their scores by effectively and efficiently diagramming logic games, carefully breaking down the argument, question, and answer choices in logical reasoning paragraphs, and fully understanding and appreciating reading comprehension essays. I have heard students complain that their tutors don’t explain things well enough and don’t get fast enough results; I am confident that neither would be said of me. I am exceptionally empathetic and patient, highly ambitious, and devoted to this field.

I have and absolute passion for the LSAT!! Although I am qualified to tutor many other subjects, including other tests, the nature of these challenges truly appeal to me. I love seeing students propelled to levels they had only imagined, and very quickly. It is, again, the beauty of critical thinking which is the core essence of this test, and I am uniquely qualified to explain it. Perhaps my love of music and Bach in particular, the fugues and counterpoint, give me a very special attitude and approach. Please get in touch, you’ll be glad you did!
