About Joyce

I have 12 years of teaching math experience in the public school system. I have taught 6th grade, 7th grade, algebra, geometry, Integrated Math I, Integrated Math I support and AP Calculus BC. I have had 100% pass rates in my AP classes thus far!

I am a UCLA graduate with a Masters in Education and a Bachelors in Pure Mathematics.

I am a strong believer in helping students understand the mathematics versus memorizing procedures.

I have 9 years of public school experience teaching mathematics. I have taught full year long classes of 6th grade math, 7th grade math, algebra, geometry Integrated Math I, AP Calculus BC.

For the past two years, my AP class has had 100% pass rates.

About the lesson

Whenever a student struggles, I use questioning techniques to find the source of the struggle first. I then build up the skills and understanding from that point.

I am a strong believer of understanding the concept versus procedural understanding. I really make sure my students understand the why of the mathematics through questioning.

Perfect! Ms Joyce Law is a great help to my daughter tutoring her for freshman Algebra. She is very thorough and fair. She has been working with my daughter just over 6 months and we have seen much improvement. My daughter worked with 2 other math tutors prior and they did not help her as well as Joyce Law. Ms Joyce is flexible with her schedule and is very easy to coordinate with. My family highly recommends Ms Joyce Law.

Perfect! Joyce is very patient and understanding with my daughters, and she has an excellent command of the course material. She is able to quickly assess the areas in which they are having difficulties, teach them the proper problem solving techniques, and then reinforce this learning with further applications.
