About John

I started teaching in 1980 in Japan. Since then I have taught in Greece, Cyprus, England and the U.S. I love Math, History, and Computer Science. My teaching style is mostly active and project based. The ability to use a computer in imaginative ways to enhance study, creativity, and play is a skill that benefits all subjects and one that I have developed since I was 12.

I love helping others to understand the world we live in. Understanding people, places, things, animals, can be viewed from many points of view. I am always excited to develop new understandings and share them with others.

I started programming computers when I was 12. I went to college and studied Political Economics and History. Then I travelled and worked around the world for seven years. To improve my teaching skills I came back to the U.S. and studied Technology in Education which focuses on knowing how people of all ages learn and how to effectively use technology to improve learning. For 13 years, I then taught at a private 7-12 school for boys while also coaching and participating in the fun projects like a Haunted House.

About the lesson

I like to start by understanding the student, their goals, their skills and their work habits. From their we can set goals and develop a plan achieve those goals.
