About Karen
I am an undergraduate physics major at UCLA with minors in math and Chinese language. While at school, I tutor elementary and middle school students each week at a Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles in a variety of subjects, and I have experience tutoring my peers in STEM subjects throughout high school. I love learning and also helping others gain the same passion for knowledge as I have!
I have seen the many drawbacks of online education, especially because this pandemic seemed to come out of nowhere and the jump from in-class to online teaching was so sudden. Being so passionate about education, I see the importance of K-12 education not only in terms of preparing students for the next year but also in gaining fundamental skills that are needed wherever one goes in life. I generally love helping students understand important concepts and gain a love of learning, but especially now, I am further passionate in helping students keep up with the learning they may have missed in the online classrooms.
I am entering my fourth year as an undergraduate at UCLA majoring in physics and minoring in math and Chinese. While at school, I tutor weekly at a Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles, and I have a lot of experience tutoring my peers in STEM subjects throughout high school.

Typically, I would like to know general relevant information about the student, such as what year in school and what the student needs help with. The more specific the information I get beforehand about what the student needs help with, the better prepared I can be when I meet with the student! As tutoring will occur online, the further information that needs to be worked out is the best platform for the student to meet, as well as the student's available times.
