About Myah
My family considers me a math-fanatic. I like to think of myself as simply passionate about numbers. Sharing that passion with others has always given me a sense of accomplishment. I completed two years of college study for a major in mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University. Throughout most of my schooling years I've found myself huddled over a sheet of equations with others helping them make sense of it all. Seeing a child's confidence in math rise inspires me. I specialize in math levels up to Algebra I but will be raising this level in the future.
My favorite part of tutoring in when the lightbulb turns on in my student's mind and they finally understand a concept that was such a struggle to them. Then watching them solve each problem with building confidence makes me proud. My goal is for my students to realize that with a little hard work and perseverance, they can overcome many obstacles not only in school but in life. I also want them to know that it's okay to seek help from a teacher or parent or other trusted figure in their lives because we're in this together.
I found myself helping peers and younger students through the most of my schooling years. It comes naturally.

First I'll set up an initial phone interview with the student to get acquainted with them and try to pinpoint what areas they need help in. During this call, I prefer for the child to have some math problems that they may have difficulty with. By working through one or two of them, I can see whether we'll be a good fit and if they find my instruction easy to understand. From there I then talk with student's parent or guardian about scheduled sessions, goals and pricing.
Middle and high school
Make sure you are comfortable with the teacher's personality. Some are super enthusiastic while others are very soft spoken. I advise students to see if a potential teacher is someone they don't mind sharing their learning struggles with and feel confident in the teacher's ability to help them.
