About Marshall
I listen to the student and first have a discussion on what the student wants to learn. I will teach in a way that is lecturing at times, but it will mostly be in examples and I will very rarely give you the answers. I beleive that part of learning is hacing the "AHA" moment for your self. I will try and nudge you in the right direction while also having you explain why along the way.
I enjoy seeing the look on peoples face when they finally understand something that has been confusing them for so long. Being able to not only help them get there, but having them realize that most of the work was themselves, and not the teacher is what makes me the happiest. Having students beleive in themselves and keep trying until they fully understand it is an amazing feeling.
I started tutoring my friends, saw how much they learned, and how much I enjoyed it.
I am a student at University of Maryland and I have already helped over 30 students in a class room setting.

Find a teacher that is willing to listen to you as much as they are willing to teach you. Teaching is not just one person lecturing to another. Teaching is a dialouge between two people. If you find a teacher that does not have a dialouge with you, you deserver to find someone who will.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should wonder if the teacher is qualified to teach, and also they should understand that teachers are human as well. They have lives and they make mistakes so they should think about not judging a teacher too hard if they make small mistakes. Talk to them about themselves so you know what you are getting yourself into.
