About Peyton
My expertise in the math and sciences allow me to not only provide a structured plan for teaching students valuable information to incerease their success in school but also understand where students may be getting caught up in their mental process. I have tutored many friends and peers while they have been struggling in courses at the University of Tennessee, and each one has gone on to exceed their course goals through persistance and hard work. Many teachers today only teach information in one way and will get frustrated if a student struggles learning in that way; however, I am a firm believer that it doesn't matter how a student thinks about a topic as long as they understand the information. Adaptability is a strong asset, and I try to instill this concept in the students that I teach.

I find that it's usually good to tell new students about myself when meeting them so they think of me less as a teacher and more as a friend. Next, I may ask them a few basic questions about the subject at hand just to give me a baseline about what they know or how they were previously taught. It's vital to understand ways that a particular student learns the best, so the initial few minutes may include me just trying out various teaching methods to see what they respond the best to.
