About Joseph
I am a retired Mathematics and Computer Programming teacher. I taught in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District for 40 years and, for a time, chaired both the Mathematics and Computer Science Departments. The sheer elegance and beauty of mathematics has inspired me since childhood. I have always striven to have my students understand, not merely be able to do, mathematics.
First, and foremost, the facial expressions on my students' faces when they truly understand a concept, algorithm, etc..

Initiate Parent-Student meeting to determine goals for student.
I will then develop a proficiency test to determine strengths and weaknesses of student in desired curricular area.
I will then develop a somewhat Diensian plan for learning emphasizing mathematical modelling and visual learning.
In this way I have had great success in helping students to truly learn and retain math. concepts, not merely learn in order to pass a test.
