About Robin

* Degreed electornics engineer which required Courses such as Physics I and II, Computational methods, and control theory. And those courses required the practical usage of what was learned through four semesters of calculus (where geometry, algebra and trig were mainstays).

* Online tutoring ONLY due to Covid-19; tutoring via different modes such as zoom, Skype, FaceTime and idroo.

***I absolutely LOVE building ones confidence. It is quite rewarding when a student explains what they are interpreting and you see their "LIGHT" shining.

I home educated my family and that ignited my passion for math and story problems. Other families took notice and requested that I tutor their teens for a range of reasons from elevating their ACT or SAT scores to building their confidence through a step-wise methodical approach.

Specialized in:

* Teaching concepts for solving pre-algebra through Calculus problems as a tutor since 2012.

* Prepping students for ACT and College Board SAT math.

Eduacational Background:

BSEE which involved taking four calculus courses inorder to then utilize those skills in various engineering courses from Physics I and II to Control Theory.

About the lesson

I use a personalized approach to identify wants and needs. I try to determine the goals of the parent and/or the young adult.

* 11 year olds to college students

* Students with math anxiety

* High Achieving Students who want to increase their ACT or SAT scores

* Students prepping for their first semester at college

* Students taking AP Calculus

* Students in need of improved organizational habits

* Students with memory difficulties where repetition, patience and games help

Look for someone whom you are comfortable with and someone who cares about your overall improvement.

Family runs the Petoskey District Library Chess Club and during the pandemic we have gone online to promote biweekly chess tournaments. It has been a great source of fun and continuity for the kids.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student or parent ( depending on age) should try to determine areas which need improving.

They can do this in part by locating past graded exams to share with the tutor so that the tutor can see what areas need improvement. They can also think about past lessons learned in terms of improvement ... comments from teachers, observations made by parents, etc.
