I started teaching for volunteer hours and got rather good at it. I know have started to tutor as a job to help people.
I've tutored throughout the pandemic in my district and tutored people for tests. I'm an advanced student in high school.

Day 1 is spend working with the family and the child to come up with a lesson plan and formulating what works best for both of us. The next couple of lessons would be taken to figure out what the best way to teach is(based on teaching style) and duration of focus.
Incoming kindergarteners to freshman in high school. I prefer to tutor kindergarteners to middle schoolers though. In some cases I can tutor kids younger then kindergarten but minimum age is 4.
Attend the first lesson and make sure your comfortable to move on. Varies studies have shown that students tend to do better when they feel safe and comfortable around the teacher/tutor.
I'm fond of going to regionals with my math team and being a state semi finalist for debate.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Purpose of tutoring, math units they need help on. Those would be the two biggest, there are others but vary from family to family.
