About Natalia

I've been a tutor since I am a High School student, Every time my friends needed help with math, chemistry or physics they would ask for my help and I really enjoyed helping them. That was when I discovered I love to teach! After I graduated I worked in a small tutoring center, received other students in my house for extra work and after 3 years in the tutoring business, I find myself working in a new tutoring center called Manabu. I really love my job and hope I can continue helping many more students.

I've always notice that is super common for students to have trouble in certain areas such as math chemistry or physics. It's not easy to understand but once you do it feels great! And saves a lot of time and worry obviously. When I teach my students successfully I feel really gratified and pleased to know I did my job correctly and was able to help them out.

I discovered I've love teaching since I was in high school. Whenever my friends needed help, they were looking for me so I could explain to them. They always congratula ted me for explaining them so well and I always enjoyed it. After graduating I got my first job at a tutoring center.

Mostly experience. I've been tutoring for the last 3 years in different tutoring centers. Know how to work with different ages. I've worked from first grade students up to high School levels.

About the lesson

We usually choose a place to meet, if its online we tend to use skype or zoom meetings. I ask a little about the topics that are causing trouble or that are not clear to the student. Then I do some example exercises to review the procedure (step by step) of how to solve it. Finally I try to lea e some extra time so that my student solves some exercises by him/herself, that way we can tell how much progress we've made.

Mostly contact high school students. Teaching from pre algebra all the way to algebra 2 and in some cases even pre calculus. Still I have a lot of experience working with kids. I've teached first, second and sixth graders. I'm sure I can teach any ages in between.

In most of my students I have noticed two main things.

First, they usually are not able to identify exaclty "what is it" they don´t understand. They know they don´t understand but are not able to ask a specific question. So, if you have trouble with a problem, try solving it by yourself. Identify in which part of the exercise is that you are not able to continue. In most cases, they just tend to forget the ORDER of the steps to solve the problem. Totally suggest you write the steps in a sticky note so you can follow them as you work.

Second important suggestion: practice A LOT. Solving 2-3 exercises is not enough for you to understand the topic completely. As they say "practice makes perfect".

During my experience teaching there is an event I remember the most. Last year, one of my greates achievements as a tutor was when I had to work with a dyslexic student. When I first met him his grades were in average 20%. He had this final test that would define if he was passing to 7th grade. At first it was hard, he got bored easily and insisted in doing his job as fast as he could so we could finish early, but after a couple of months working with him we managed things pretty well. His final score in his test was of 90%! I was so proud of him and of all the work we did together.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try solving exercises by yourself. That way you are able to idently exaclty what is it that you dont understand. Try to show the teacher the same exercises you tried to solve before and explain what you don´t understand specifically. That will help you avoid generic questions and therefore generic answers that won´t help you understand.

If you don´t understand anything at all, don´t be afraid to say it. Ask you´re teacher to explain everything from the top and ask as many questions as you can.
