About Arlene

I am currently a Director of a math tutoring center. I have overseen hundreds of students' learning plans and their progress for the past three years and have private tutored ten years before that. I have knowledge of where a child's math skills should be at according to their grade level. I love teaching and interacting with children, but being a Director doesn't allow me the opportunity to teach as much as I'd like to.

I enjoy connecting with my students and helping them improve their confidence in math. I believe with my teaching skills and personality I am able to excite students about math and get them to improve. My approach to teaching is showing students the why and how of a topic, rather than memorization. Through pictures and diagrams, I am able to help students visualize their work and solve problems more efficiently. I am able to tailor my teaching to your student's learning style whether it's visual, oral, or auditory. My unique skills set and experience as a math instructor makes me the most qualified to teach your student.

I started tutoring my siblings and neighbors, then my classmates and other family members when I was in high school. I continued to tutor through college and post graduation for the love of it. I got hired to be a director of a math center in July 2017 and have been doing that ever since.

I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Business Economics. I've private tutored math since 2007 and been a Director for a math center the past 3 years.

About the lesson

I get to know my students and their areas of strengths/ weakness by administering an assessment. I collect information like parent's/student's expectations, their availability, and the student's willingness to learn and receive my instruction.

I've worked with K-12 students and some occasional college students.

Perfect! Arlene is the most patient tutor ever. I am 60 years old and math challenged. She takes her time and go over and over something until you get it. And her rates are reasonable.
