About Morgan

Hi! I am currently a college student at the University of Oregon with a major in Education. I have always loved to teach and would love to help others with school work, especially math. I vow to help each student reach their goals by remaining patient, calm, innovative, kind, and intriguing. During the months of COVID and online school, I was a nanny to three young boys who I was able to successfully guide through their school work and essentially teach them myself. I find a lot of joy in helping others and truly have a passion for teaching. While I especially do love math, I am open to helping in other subjects as well. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you want to know anything else!

Truthfully, I enjoy subjects that I know I can do and that I am good at. That being said, when I help others understand a concept better, I have hopes that, they too, will start to have fun and enjoy learning as well. In other words, I enjoy being able to help students out of a state of struggle and into a state of confidence and enjoyment.

To gain the most participation and comfortability with the student, I would always like to start with introducing myself a little bit and, of course, getting to the know the student if they are comfortable with that. Secondly, at the beginning of each session I personally like to ask the student what their goal is for this session. This ensures that I am catering the students' needs and not feeding them useless information or wasting their time. Thirdly, I use the best of my abilities to navigate how each individual student prefers to be taught, as I understand that this varies from student-to-student. At the end of the session, I want to make sure to thank the student for coming and do what I can to leave on a good note and feel welcome to come back again.

If you are a student looking to a hire a teacher, my advise to you is to choose a teacher that you feel resonates with your preferred teaching style. All teachers have different styles and techniques and it is important to find the one that matches you the best, for this is the key to being successful in your tutoring session. Secondly, don't be afraid to reach out and ask question if needed. If you would like to have a little introduction meeting before agreeing to hiring me, I would be more than welcome to do. It is all about finding the right connection with your tutor.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- What area am I struggling in the most? and why might this be?

- What type of exercises would potentially help me in the areas in which I am struggling?

- (If there is multple areas of need) What area would be the most beneficial for me? Would focusing on a specific area help me in the other areas as well? What specific area would this be?

- What exercises are most intriguing and helpful for me?

All of these questions essentially just focus on being able to identify and recognize the areas of need and what exactly I can do as tutor to help the student. While I know that these questions can be very diffiuclt to answer, just try your best and I will appreciate any type of answer and will always be willing to help you (:
