About Todd

I'm a certified high school math teacher that believes anyone can learn and do math without tricks and shortcuts. It simply takes some effort, a good explanation, and a willingness to ask questions.

I've earned a Masters Degree in Accounting and have been teaching high school math for several years, and have taught everything from Algebra 1 through Calculus.

Teaching, especially in a more of a one-on-one tutoring style, provides so much opportunity to see individual learning happen. The growth a student can make in such a short time with some encouragement and persistence is amazing.

In teaching I've found the fulfillment that was missing while I was working as an accountant. I stopped accounting and followed my wife into education and have been teaching high school math for four years now.

I am a certified high school math teacher with 4 years of teaching experience including Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Precalculus, and Caclulus.

About the lesson

We will start with a conversation to identify a student's goals and which topics they are familiar with and which ones they need to practice. Based on the student's goal and their prior knowledge, we will jump into some practice problems and talk through the entire process to identify specific areas of growth.

All of my students have been high school age. Within that group, I have worked with Special Education students, Gifted and Talented students, and everyone in between. I believe everyone can learn mathematics.

When you don't understand a topic and have questions, you want a teacher who will explain it to you as many times and as many ways as you need.

I was recently able to see my first batch of students graduate high school. I have been at my school since the year it started and our first batch of students recently made it to graduation in the midst of a global pandemic. They got to walk the stage in a socially distanced commencement. I'm proud of the work my students put in over the years and am happy to see them moving to the next chapter of their lives.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What topics do you need help with. More specifically, if you have sample problems or think about a topic, what in particular do you not understand or find challenging. In all likelyhood, you probably understand some part of the question. Figuring out beforehand the pieces that you know and the ones that give you trouble will help use time more efficiently.
