About Ashlyn

Hi! I love teaching and love working with kids. In my years of visiting classrooms and refining my teaching skills I have learned very quickly that I enjoy working personally with students. In a large classroom students do not receive the same help and support that they would individually. Teachers want and dream of helping each student to succeed but it is a huge hurdle! That is why I want to help students get that personal time to be more confident in their studies. I have been working in schools for 7 years now and have wanted to be a tutor for 2 years.

I am currently finishing my teaching degree with Utah State University this semester. I will be an official teacher come December 2022!

I always wanted to be a teacher, I would help my mom with her preschool buisness by working with students individually. I loved the joy and excitement that happened when students learned a new concept or something clicks for them. I have been going to college for 4 years to receive my teaching degree.

I will graduate with my teaching degree in December 2022. For 7 years I have been going to different classrooms, interacting with students, and helping them to achieve. My focus is on Math and Reading.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is getting to know the student and what they enjoy doing. By getting to know the student I am more able to connect with them and connect subjects to them. I also want them to get to know me so we can be comfortable working together.

I have worked with students from Preschool to 5th grade.

My advice is to the guardian and the student, find the right match. Tutoring is a lot more than memorizing facts and passing tests. It is reaching new goals and being more confident. Find a tutor that takes joy in your success and will support you in the hard times. You will not learn everything by the first session but hold on and believe in yourself.

A recent event I am fond of is camping with family.
