About Aaliyah
Growing up I always enjoyed mathematics of all subjects. I was in advanced math from 6th grade all the way to taking BC Calculus my senior year of highschool. All throughout my journey as a student I have always been that go to girl when it comes to helping my classmates with their math homework. I knew then on I had not only a gift to educate/tutor, but that my math skills would become useful.
This would be my first time professionally tutoring, but my experience correlates to myself as a student. In May 2021 I will graduate with my Bachelors of Science and Arts in Nutrition at The University of Texas at Austin.
By taking some teaching classes in college.
For about two years I was a teaching assistant for some university courses I was in. I taught Algebra 1, Nutrition, and Ecology.

When working with a new student I always like to see exactly where they are at by basing their knowledge on the state requirements as well as their assigned homework all the way from the beginning of the year. It is better to make sure the student has a good foundation of understanding of the material before I continue on what they should be working on.
Mostly young students in elementary, but I have worked with all ages before.
Make sure you find a teacher who can be patient with you and your learning style.
Before the pandemic when I was teaching 4th graders Nutrition, it made me excited when the students were retaining the information that was taught to them.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should think about more conceptual questions. It's one thing to say i need help, but I would encourage them to ask well rounded questions or provide a step by step process on how they would approach their math question and whenever they get stuck then they could ask their question of where they got stuck on.
