About Holden
I am 15 years old, entering my sophomore year at Northern Guilford High school, so my math skills are exercised daily. I love to help and see others succeed in areas that may not be their strongest or favorite subject. I am great with kids and know how to handle whatever is thrown at me. I have been assigned to help other students at school in the past. I scored in the 99th percentile on the NC math II final exam, only missing one problem. I was also recognized by the University of Duke and given the opportunity to take the SAT in the seventh grade.
I was diagnosed with ADHD in the first grade, learning in a standard classroom until then was extremely difficult and I found myself having to teach myself. I used strategies of my own to comprehend what was going on. In the 4th grade, I was placed with a student who was struggling with the material we were learning. I encouraged him and within the first session, he had learned.
I have not received a high school diploma yet but I have passed elementary, middle school, math I and math II with all A’s. I also lead a church youth for 5th grade boys so I know how to handle kids.

I would first see how they retain knowledge best wether it be auditory, kinnestetic, or visual. Then I would find the extent of their mastered abilities. Then teaching the application of those skills in different or similar situations to set the foundation of growth and progression.
Most if the time, the ones that need extra help are the brightest in the class. They just haven’t been able to show it because everybody learns different. One on one attention allows for an individuals specific needs to be met.
