About Clay
I am a Mechanical Engineering major at Clemson University, and I just finished my freshman year. I have completed general engineering courses and math courses up through Calculus II Single Variable calculus. I applied to be an engineering tutor for the fall 2020 semester at Clemson and would like to provide tutoring services over the summer as well. I attended high school at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Virginia and recieved my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
I want to provide tutoring to individuals taking summer classes in mathematics and general engineering because I know how difficult these courses can be, especially when they have been moved online. Struggling is inevitable in all classes, however, one can learn to be successful in those classes by enjoying to struggle with the hindrances set forth by teachers. Therfore, what I enjoy most about the work I have done in engineering is the failure and struggle that leads to success and conceptual understanding.
I was reccomended to be an engineering tutor for my fall 2020 semester at Clemson, but I have no official tutoring background besides helping friends here and there in high school.

When it comes to math and engineering, I like to do multiple practice problems and examples. I usually like to start with video explanations and then move to practice problems, increasing difficulty of problems from there.
Find someone that relates the most to the way you learn. I have found that I am most successful when I enjoy how my teacher or professor runs his or her class. This could be with a flipped class room scenario, a lecture scenario, online videos, etc.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Instead of asking for answers to solutions, it is truly better to ask questions about steps to problems. You will better understand problems and solutions by getting small details and using those to complete the problem yourself.
